Money raised from the walk was handed over to the Fund for the Poor at Districts 7, 8, Nha Be and Binh Chanh of HCMC and to the HCMC Fund for Football Talent, a HCMC Television charitable fund.

About 14,000 people participated in the annual walk to raise fund for the poor as part of the celebrations for Lunar New Year Festival (Tet).

Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk was launched in 2006 as an annual event by the Phu My Hung Joint Venture Company and municipal departments in response to a program for the poor launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee. The event donated more than VND23 billion to the poor in Ho Chi Minh City during the last nine years.
