Charity walk raises funds to support the poor

HCM CITY - As many as 15,000 people are expected to join the 11th Lawrence S. Ting charity walk in Hồ Bán Nguyệt (Crescent Lake) in the Phú Mỹ Hưng urban area in HCM City's District 7 on January 9.

All proceeds from the 11th charity walk, jointly organised by the Phú Mỹ Hưng Development Corp. in coordination with the People's Committee of District 7,8, Bình Chánh and Nhà Bè, will be domated to the poor for Tết (traditional new year festival).

As of December 31, the organisers of the 11th Lawrence S. Ting Charity Walk received donations of over VND92.6 billion (US$116,000).
The money will be donated to funds for the poor in districts 7,8, Bình Chánh and Nhà Bè before the lunar new year of the Dragon, said the organisers at a press meeting held on Thursday.

According to the event's management broard, the past 10 charity walks have attracted 134,000 participants and collected more than VNĐ20 billion ($932,000) worth of donations, contributing significantly to social welfare and charity activities.
